Special thanks to the Orange Coast College (OCC) School of Sailing and Seamanship for their 100% support of this phenomenal and once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for students at Back Bay High School (a continuation school)!  These high school students not only engaged in hands-on science on the docks, but also learned the theory and science behind sailing, chart-reading, navigational rules and procedures, and actually learned to sail on their own!  As OCC is in the nearby vicinity of BBHS, this experience provided a “career pipeline” for students interested in the Maritime industry!  I kicked this program into action during my first year at BBHS, along with the U.S. Safe Powerboating Course.  As the school district no longer supports this opportunity, my goal is to continue it through LegaSeas.
